Daytime Burglary

Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 12:25PM A burglar entered 1469 President Street in Crown Heights and made off with $2000 in cash. Crown Heights Shmira was able to obtain the surveillance footage from the time of the incident. Read more

Monday, December 29, 2014: At approximately 4:00AM a burglar, armed with a gun broke into a residence on Lincoln Pl between Kingston and Albany Avenues in Crown Heights. Read more

Updated: Missing Person Found

Saturday December 27th, 2014 6:15pm. Crown Heights Shmira would like to inform the public that the missing 73 year old, Moshe Kanofsky was successfully located over shabbos through the tireless efforts of Shmira volunteers and our great partnership with the NYPD. We thank the community at large for assisting and providing tips on Moshe’s possible whereabouts.

Update: Missing Found

Missing 80 year old

Crown Heights Shmira in coordination with the NYPD is conducting a search for a missing 80 year old male, named Yagub, Zarbailov He was last in contact with his family on October 4th after Yom Kippor. He is diabetic and suffers from memory loss.

Update: Missing Found
At approximately 10:00PM after many hours of searching, Shmira members spotted the ‎missing, Yagub Zarbailov, limping up Rochester Avenue near Crown Street. When approached, he appeared disoriented but was otherwise in stable condition. Hatzola transported him to Kingsbrook Jewish Hospital.

Bicycle Thief

Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 9:58AM: Perp is seen in front of True Value hardware store located at 829 E New York Avenue in crown Heights, Brooklyn. He cases the area before making off with a bike that was left outside. This is believed to be the second time this perp stole a bicycle from the same location. The previous incident occurred approximately two weeks prior.

Nypd & Shmira Buy & Bust

Early friday morning approximately 1:15 A.M., a young man was walking on East New York ave  between brooklyn and kingston avenues, when he  was attacked by four male black thugs, he was beaten and robbed of his backpack and Iphone, a passer by called Shmira, the shmira dispatcher advised the caller to also call 911, Shmira and NYPD responded in large numbers and began canvassing, but the perpetrators were not found and a police report was made.

CAR BURSTS INTO FLAMES, SHMIRA SAVES THE DAY.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 approximately 6:35pm a Crown Heights Shmira member was on his way home from work when he caught a whiff of smoke. After a quick investigation, the Shmira member found the source in the back of 309 Crown Street between New York and Nostrand Avenue, where a car was emitting smoke. This car had been stolen and the thief had abandoned it in the backyard. It has been sitting there for over two years. The Shmira member acted quickly and requested over his Shmira radio for the dispatcher to call 911. Read more
