Daytime Burglary

Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 12:25PM A burglar entered 1469 President Street in Crown Heights and made off with $2000 in cash. Crown Heights Shmira was able to obtain the surveillance footage from the time of the incident. Read more

Monday, December 29, 2014: At approximately 4:00AM a burglar, armed with a gun broke into a residence on Lincoln Pl between Kingston and Albany Avenues in Crown Heights. Read more

Updated: Missing Person Found

Saturday December 27th, 2014 6:15pm. Crown Heights Shmira would like to inform the public that the missing 73 year old, Moshe Kanofsky was successfully located over shabbos through the tireless efforts of Shmira volunteers and our great partnership with the NYPD. Friday November 21, 2014 2:00AM: A family who just arrived from a day long trip from Montreal, were unloading their luggage on union street and Albany avenue. A male black passing by noticed the luggage sitting near the rear of the car. Read more

Midnight Vandalism

Monday, November 17, 2014: An elderly Crown Heights resident woke up to find one of his front windows smashed and the rock that broke it lying on the floor inside. The incident occurred on Carroll Street between Troy and Schenectady Avenues. It appears to be a random act of vandalism with no obvious motive. A police report has been filed.

Fraud Alert

The two woman pictured above have been attempting to pass fake $100 bills when buying small ticket items in order to get the change. The Counterfeit Detector Pen does not detect their fakes. They are described as 2 female Hispanics approximately 30 years of age. height 5’5, light skin complexion, one female has dark brown hair with blond hair endings carrying a blue pocketbook, the other female has dark brown hair.

Chokehold Mugger Arrested

Thursday, November 13, 2014 Approximately 3:45PM: A young man was walking down Carroll Street between Kingston and Albany when two thugs jumped him from behind. One perpetrator placed him in the a chokehold while yelling instructions to his partner, saying “take his wallet, take his cell phone”. The victim could not breath and let them take his belongings without putting up a fight.
