The Crown Heights Shmira Patrol would like to inform you of several safety tips to help protect yourselves and your property against criminal acts of mischief.
Thursday, October 16, 2014 at approximately 3:00PM: A young man posing as a religious Jew went into Young Timers located at 389 Kingston Avenue and told the clerk that he was collecting for a sick child.
Tuesday, October 14, 2014 approximately 7:30PM: A male black was riding a bike on East New York Avenue between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues when he punched a young girl in the face knocking her over. There was no attempted robbery, only an unprovoked act of hate against a stranger. Shmira members responded and canvassed the area with the victim for a while but the perpetrator had fled the area. The victim filed a police report.
Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 12:29AM: The Crown Heights Shmira hotline received a phone call from a bystander who witnessed a male black entering the backyard of a building on Union Street between Schenectady and Utica
Sunday, October 12, 2014 At 9:08PM: Two girls were walking on Eastern Parkway from Kingston Avenue towards Albany Avenue when a man walking in the opposite direction bumped into one of them, knocking her off her feet, in what appears to be an intentional act of mischief. The girls were frightened and immediately ran home to tell their parents. The Parents called the Crown Heights Shmira hotline and Shmira members were quickly dispatched to the location. An extensive and thorough canvass was performed, but the perpetrator had fled the area.
