UNRELENTING THIEF

December 26, 2012 Filed under Shmira News

Sunday, December 23, 2012 approximately 2:00 AM A black male was spotted trying to break in to cars parked on Carroll Street, between Brooklyn and New York avenues, in Crown Heights.

Shmira members responded and kept a discreet eye on him from a distance. After observing him breaking in to one of them, owned by a recognizable Jewish resident, volunteers of the Shmira patrol group began a hot pursuit until President Street, where he was apprehended and held until police arrived.

But when New York’s finest arrived, they released the man to his mother.

They explained that since the car’s owner didn’t identify any stolen belongings and being that there was no obvious damage to the vehicle, they cannot make an arrest.

Later, at about 4:00 AM, the same perpetrator was spotted leaving 565 Crown St. and attempting to open more car doors.

At about 6:00 AM Police made an arrest of someone breaking in to cars in the area, we are trying to ascertain if it is the same criminal.
