Shmira’s partnership with the Police Department keeps bearing fruits!

September 23, 2012 Filed under Shmira News

The quick thinking action of a technology savvy Shmira volunteer brought a swift end to the careers of a pair of cell phone robbers. The pair had just robbed a Crown Heights resident of his I-phone and made a quick get away on their bikes. Eyewitnesses immediately called Shmira and a Shmira volunteer responded within minutes. The Shmira members & NYPD tracked the I-phone to Atlantic Ave and Marconi Place. Additional unites were dispatched to that location and were given a description of the bike riding I-phone thieves.

Upon arriving at Atlantic ave and Marconi Place, Shmira volunteers saw two people matching the description of the robbers enter the corner bodega. After a short while the robbers left the bodega and entered a nearby house.

Shmira immediately related this information to their contacts in the Police Department and the Police sent several officers to make the arrest. The thieves were arrested in the house and after a brief search the I-phone was recovered from the bodega.

Shmira/COP coordinators expressed thanks  to Lieutenant Weiss, Officer Rakebrand, and Officer Dieugina of the 71 Precinct, their quick and decisive action led to the quick apprehension of these career criminals.

Officer Dieugina’s name is spelled incorrectly. The correct spelling is: DiEugenia

Kudos to the Shmira and the NYPD team!
