Shmira Makes a huge catch

February 26, 2009 Filed under Shmira News

At about 10:25pm Wednesday night Shmira received a call on the emergency hotline from a sharp eyed Crown Heights resident, who witnessed a black male smashing the window of car parked on Carroll street between Kingston and Brooklyn avenues and stealing a GPS navigation unit that was left mounted on the dashboard, the witness advised Shmira that he was following the perpetrator , Shmira members quickly responded and joined in the chase, and nabbed the most notorious Car Burglar in the Crown Heights area Terrance Nelson, on Union street Near Albany avenue.

Shmira immediately called NYPD and held the thief till the police arrived, when the responding Police officers searched the perpetrator they found on his person the stolen GPS unit along with burglary tools.

After a brief investigation by the Responding police officers, and with help from Shmira and the witness the African American owners of the burglarized car were located and were extremely happy and thankful to the witness as well as Shmira and NYPD for the great team work, and the return of their GPS unit.

Nelson was placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Mischief, Petit Larceny, Possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.

The 71st Precinct was extremely thankful to Shmira and the witness, for apprehending this notorious perpetrator, he is the primary suspect in dozens of car break-ins that have taken place over the past 10 years in the Crown Heights area, Shmira will be providing NYPD with security Video evidence of yet another break-in that took place earlier this week in which Nelson can be seen doing his work.

As a note Shmira has had Nelson arrested at least five times over the years, Shmira will be in contact with NYPD and the Brooklyn District attorney’s office to make every effort that this career criminal remains behind bars for a long time, and does not come out thru the revolving door system.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Shmira menbers at the scene and the NYPD for their cooperation in this matter and doing an outstanding job.

SHMIRA NOTICE: Car owners please do not leave any visible personal belongings in your car, do not leave GPS suction cups on the windshield this will lead the thieves to believe that there may be a hidden GPS unit in the car and lead them to possibly break your window and take a look, please take the time to warn your guests not to leave any valuables that may be visible in their cars.
