Biased vandalism in Crown Heights

September 4, 2008 Filed under Shmira News

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 approximately 5:30pm: A Crown Heights resident came home and found that his mezuza (religious scroll that is traditionally placed on the doorposts of every Jewish home) was missing. Upon further examination he realized that his neighbors’ mezuza was missing as well. The resident, who does not speak English very well and was unfamiliar with the procedure, called Shmira and asked that they send a volunteer to help him file a Police report. A Shmira member responded and advised the resident to call 911 and remained on scene to help translate when needed.

Police Officers responded and took a report from both neighbors. One of the residents asked the Officers if it was going to be filed as a biased crime. A supervisor arrived on scene and stated that the case would need further examination to decide how this crime will be categorized.

This better be considered a biased crime???

what els would they say it is..

    Reminder,
when putting up a Mezuza you should ALWAYS use “One Way Screws” and not just the sticky tapy that comes on the back.
