SHMIRA HELPS FIND MISSING CHILD

July 13, 2008 Filed under Shmira News

Friday, July 11, 2008: Its only minutes before candle lighting time and in the heart of Crown Heights, one frantic mother can’t find her 8 year old child. After one and a half hours of searching the house the woman dials 911. Several Officers respond and begin searching the house, when suddenly the mother remembers another instance where she needed assistance and Shmira had come to give a hand. She calles Shmira and multiple members respond. A senior Unit, who was not on scene helps coordinate the call and relates about a previous case where a child had gone missing and was later found under his bed. The senior unit requests a very thorough search of the house.

After a brief search, to everyone’s relief the child, who must have heard the noise from the radios comes out from between two beds just when some officers and Shmira members were entering the room. The child later said he wanted “to be alone”. On their way out Shmira members were showered with thanks from the mother of the child for always being there to help whenever she called.

Shmira would like to thank the responding Officers from the 71st precinct and the PBBS for their professionalism, courtesy and a job well handled.
