SHMIRA RETRIEVES STOLEN SCOOTER

May 30, 2008 Filed under Shmira News

Friday at approximately 5:20pm a young boy entered the Bargain Center located on Kingston Avenue between Crown and Carroll Street leaving his scooter unattended outside the store. Moments later, upon exiting the store the scooter had disappeared.

The boy called Shmira. Shmira members arrived on scene, called 911, got a description of the scooter and immediately spread out canvassing the area in search for the scooter. When Police arrived they stated that the boy would have to come down to the precinct later on with his parents to make the report since they were unable to make the report in the absence of his parents. Meanwhile multiple Shmira volunteers were diligently searching all the streets and alleyways in the neighborhood. After an hour and a half of searching one of the volunteers found the scooter abandoned on Crown Street near the entrance to a house. The boy was called and his scooter was returned to him.

Shmira would like to urge all residents of the neighborhood to please refrain from leaving bicycles, scooters, baby carriages or any other valuables unattended even for just a few minutes.

Shmira would like to wish all residents of Crownheights a safe shabbos!
