SHMIRA SELF-DEFENCE SEMINAR A SUCCESS

January 12, 2013 Filed under Advisory Report, Shmira News

On Sunday, January 6, a 2-hour seminar about street-wise self-defense was held in the heart of Crown Heights, organized by the Crown Heights Shmira patrol.

The seminar, attended by men and boys ages 13 and up, educated the community on the basics of how to defend oneself against common street attacks.

The instructors Michoel Shapiro, a certified instructor in Israeli self-defense systems Krav Maga and Haganah (F.I.G.H.T.) and Eilon Even-Esh, a professional MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) trainer and a veteran of both the IDF and Marine Corps, explained strategies and techniques to neutralize an attacker who is bigger, stronger, and possibly armed.

As a follow up and due to popular demand, a women’s self-defense seminar is being arranged, taught by a female teacher.

Men’s self-defense classes are now offered on a weekly basis in Crown Heights. For all information on seminars and classes, please contact Michoel Shapiro at FightingRabbi@gmail.com for more information.

It’s long overdue. Kol haKavod for this training. I think you should also include safety training for younger children and the elderly who are a vulnerable population.

Glad you’ll do it for women/girls.
