ROCKS THROWN AT BOYS PLAYING IN PARK

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 approximately 9:45am a group of young boys were playing baseball in Lefferts Park, located on Lefferts Avenue between Kingston and Albany Avenue, when suddenly a variety of objects came soaring down upon them from the roof of an adjacent building, 570 Lefferts Avenue. Upon glancing toward the roof one of the boys noticed an African American male standing there and throwing rocks and other objects over the edge. Crown Heights Shmira was called and responded. When the first member arrived he spotted the perpetrator standing on the roof peering over the edge. The Shmira member transmitted the situation over his radio and 911 was dispatched. (more…)

CAR BURSTS INTO FLAMES, SHMIRA SAVES THE DAY.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 approximately 6:35pm a Crown Heights Shmira member was on his way home from work when he caught a whiff of smoke. After a quick investigation, the Shmira member found the source in the back of 309 Crown Street between New York and Nostrand Avenue, where a car was emitting smoke. This car had been stolen and the thief had abandoned it in the backyard. It has been sitting there for over two years. The Shmira member acted quickly and requested over his Shmira radio for the dispatcher to call 911. (more…)
