CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn – Shmira members assisted in possibly saving the life of an African American livery driver, who was being robbed at gunpoint this past Tuesday morning. The incident began at 1:00 AM on Maple St. and Kingston Ave. as Shmira members on a routine neighborhood patrol spotted a livery cab on rolling slowly in the parking lane and ramming the parked car in front of it.

Shmira members approached the oddly behaving vehicle, when the drivers’ door abruptly flung open as the cab driver attempted to flee the vehicle, but was being held back by a thug inside the vehicle weilding a handgun pointed at the drivers head. The driver, finally managed to break loose and fell out of the moving car, rolling on the road a several times, the car continued moving and smashed in to an additional parked car. The quick acting Shmira members grabbed the driver and put him into their patrol car, reversed out of the block, called 911 and brought him to the 71st Pct, the driver thanked the Shmira members profusely “for saving his life”.
