Sunday, February 13, 2011, approximately 9:15am: A Crown Heights resident returning from visiting his mother was accosted by a male black who demanded his car. This all unfolded when the victim was parking his car in front of the vacant lot on Crown St. between Albany and Troy Avenues. As the victim attempted to leave the car a male black displayed a silver handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and car keys. The victim attempted to flee when the perpetrator forced his way into the car and began to beat the victim over the head with the gun. The victim was forced out of the car and the perpetrator fled with the car towards Kingston Ave. The victim then proceeded to walk to his apartment in the crown condos. A good samaritan who witnessed the bloodied victim heading home immediately called the Shmira hot line.

The Shmira dispatcher immediately called 911, Hatzolah and dispatched Shmira members to the scene. Shmira members immediately began canvassing the area in search of the perpetrator and the stolen car as well as  assisting the police in gathering witnesses and obtaining surveillance video.   Hotzolah arrived and  treated  the victim, who is in his sixties, for multiple lacerations and transported him to the hospital.

Crown Heights Shmira Patrol has notified Patrols from neighboring communities and are working together to find this perpetrator.
