Young girls targeted in street bullying incident

Sunday, October 12, 2014 At 9:08PM: Two girls were walking on Eastern Parkway from Kingston Avenue towards Albany Avenue when a man walking in the opposite direction bumped into one of them, knocking her off her feet, in what appears to be an intentional act of mischief. The girls were frightened and immediately ran home to tell their parents. The Parents called the Crown Heights Shmira hotline and Shmira members were quickly dispatched to the location. An extensive and thorough canvass was performed, but the perpetrator had fled the area. Read more

Sunday, September 21, 2014 at approximately 10:45AM: The Crown Heights Shmira hotline received a call from a local store owner who witnessed someone spray painting the wooden panels outside a construction site on Carroll Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenue. Shmira members responded and met up with the caller who was following the perpetrator. After the caller pointed out the perpetrator he left and Shmira members continued discreetly following while waiting for police to respond. Read more

Sunday, September 21, 2014 at approximately 2:15AM: The Crown Heights Shmira hotline received a call from a Crown Heights resident stating that there was an unfamiliar man pounding on his front door on Crown Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues. Shmira members responded and found the man walking away from the location. After questioning the fifty year old suspect, Shmira members quickly deduced that the man had no criminal intentions and was only disoriented and possibly intoxicated. EMS was dispatched to treat the patient.

Sunday, August 17, 2014 approximately 2:00pm:  A Crown Heights resident had been unloading his vehicle on Union Street near Albany Avenue and returned to his car to notice his bag, containing a pair of tefilin*  had disappeared.  Shortly thereafter, the victim received a phone call from a man claiming to have his bag.
